I do not provide a timeline on commission work. It will be done as I am able, and I will message you with updates as I can. Do not rush me.

GENERAL

I have the right to deny any commissions for any reason. I do not need to give a reason.
Inform me of any and all details and/or specifics before sending the payment for the commission. Visuals are appreciated but not necessary. A dossier on any original characters would also be appreciated, as that will allow me to have everything about their characterization in one place. For canon fandom characters, please have some headcanons that you’d like me to incorporate, or I will use my own.I will not under any circumstances, write:

Ideally this will take the form of an undoctored screenshot of an IM of you asking them directly, which I will keep for myself. If I find you have doctored this screenshot, I will blacklist you and let others know that you did that.
If you are seeking to pay me to create a piece of fanfiction, I will present the finished product as a gift for you having donated to me. Please do not claim that it is a commission.

Payments, Deadlines, Delivery

The commission will not begin until the initial payment is in my hands. Payment is handled via invoice through Stripe. Once I approve your commission request, you may send the money. Please be expedient on this, as commissions are done on a first come-first serve basis, going by who has paid me first. If payment is not received within 1 month of the request, I will assume you have lost interest and look elsewhere. If this is not the case, you may resubmit your request at any time.
I cannot say with certainty how long any piece of writing shall take me, due to a multitude of irl factors and I will not be made to feel shame over that. If needed before a certain date, note in your original pitch and I will attempt to get it done before then. If a strict deadline is in place there may be an additional fee of up to 25% of the original piece.
Unless otherwise requested, the delivered file will be in .pdf format. Compiling it into .epub or similar formats will be done free of charge. Once the work is done, I will inform you of the remaining balance for your commission. If you fail to pay the remaining amount, I will not send you the finished product.

How it works

Take a gander at the prices below and my Ao3 or Drive folder of original works to get an idea of the way that I write. The base charge is based on $0.08/word multiplied by the expected ballpark of words. Once I have half of that projected cost in my hands, I will begin working on the commission. Once completed, I will determine the final cost and send you a second invoice for the difference.After you have chosen your preferred package, fill out the accompanying form and send it in to my business email ([email protected]). I will go through at least three primary drafts to polish the work to meet my standard and your own, showing you each along the way. At the end of the process you will be given a .pdf of the work, and (depending on your desires) I will publish it as part of my own portfolio.

Use & Intellectual Property

I retain all rights to the works I produce and will use them for portfolio purposes. The commissions are for personal and non-profit use only. If you wish for this to be used outside of those circumstances, you will need to contact me first and we can discuss this as a full licensing agreement. Failure to do so and acting outside of this agreement will result in legal action.
You are allowed to: share the commission and post quotes from it wherever you desire, use whatever parts of it (or the whole) in a non-profit way, and any other personal use is allowed so long as there is credit given to Frozen Morningstar and/or Gwynevere Morningstar. The work itself is not to be edited, resold, finished by another author, or fed to any AI/LMM.

Commercial Rights & License Agreements

Commercial rights are not included. Each work I write is my own property, and our agreement does not extend to the ability to be used in any monetized work. If you wish to have the work narrated (by yourself or others) that will be an additional +100% charge and a one time fee.

Reunds

Outside of fringe cases, refunds are not allowed. Please make sure you can afford the commission before placing the request / paying me.
Any attempt to issue a chargeback will result as a blacklist. Please communicate any and all issues with me before attempting a chargeback.

Communication

Communication will be done either through email or through dms. Commissions that are specific will be given multiple updates throughout the process. ‘Surprise me’ commissions will not, as they are meant as a surprise and corrections will only be issued if there was a massive mistake on my part. If something happens that will impede my ability to complete the commission in a timely manner, I will let you know through your preferred method of communication.Check-ins will be done at the end of each draft, of which there will be three:The first round will be the rough sketch, so to speak, where broad changes will be easiest.
The second round of checking in will be done at the end of the second, which is much more refined and the almost finished version.
The third round will be done at the end of the third draft, which for all intents and purposes is the finished product barring some revision work. Please keep in mind asking for major revisions at the end of the second or third round of check ins will incur a fee.

Violations

Any and all violations of these terms and conditions will result in compensation being sought for losses, damages, and expenses. If your rights as a client have been violated or the work has not been delivered as agreed upon by both parties, I will work to remedy this situation.

Pricelist

As mentioned above, the basic rule of thumb is $0.08/word, with an additional amount added to account for labor. This amount is a flat amount added to the price, estimated to be about how much work it will take me to do your commission. It will fluctuate depending on many factors, but will be part of the price negotiation.Below are several potential word counts and the corresponding price. These are meant to give you an idea of how much I will charge for each commission. Of course negotiation plays a part in this, and as such the provided prices are rough estimates.☀︎ 500 words total — $55 ($0.08 x 500 + $15 for labor)
☀︎ 1,478 words total — $160 ($0.08 x 1,478= $118.24 + an additional $41.76 for labor.)
☀︎ 3,421 words total — $320 ($0.08 x 3,421= $273.68 + an additional $46.32 for labor.)
☀︎ Commissions for the entirety multichapter / multipart works will be discussed and negotiated with you, the client. (You may commission me multiple times over an extended period to work on different parts, though the updates are subject to the same prices as above.)I am also willing to write brief snippets / letters from comfort characters, with those generally being in the ballpark of $20, depending on length and how much depth you want it to cover.
In addition, I am available for worldbuilding work if you require a worldbuilder with an attention for details and who strives to make things incredibly fantastical and coherent. Please message with any questions regarding this service.

Special Offers / Additional Charges

Just some additional offers that you can pay extra for, as well as additional services and what they will cost you.☀︎ NSFW Charge: $15
☀︎ Additional edits: I will provide multiple free edits (typically at the end of drafting). However, depending on the nature of any additional changes requested I may request an additional fee. Complete rewrites will incur an additional charge as well. To avoid this please be as clear with what you want as possible.
☀︎ Surprise Me: You give me the list of characters you wish to have in the work and a trope or two, I provide something written with those prompts. This knocks off 15% from your final price, although you will receive less communication regarding the content of the commission.
☀︎ Do Not Upload charge: $25
☀︎ Front of the Line fee: 25-50% of the original fee, depending on the complexity of the work and how busy the queue is.

Editing, Proofreading & Critique
Rate: $0.05/word

I am more than happy to function as a developmental editor, specifically for works dealing with medieval-style settings, though my primary areas of expertise are Late Middle Ages Europe and feudal Japan, I am are well versed enough in general to catch any discrepancies for other areas of the world in roughly that time period. I am a well regarded author by the people who have read my work (see testimonials), and I would be honored to bring my expertise to your manuscript.In addition to those services, I can offer line editing assistance, general manuscript clean up, and manuscript critique.All of these services are offered at the flat rate of $0.05/word.
